How To Edit Footer In WordPress – 5 Legitimate Ways
1. Edit WordPress footer code
The first way of editing WordPress footer is to edit the footer.php file.
In order to do this, you need to login to your WordPress dashboard and go to Appearance -> Theme Editor (although the majority of sources write about Appearance -> Editor).
Next, you need to choose Theme Footer (footer.php) from the list on the right.
Truth to tell, I don’t think this would be the best way of editing WordPress footer.
However, if you’d like to check this way, at least, you may not be able to access this feature since it turns out to be hidden very often.
2. Change footer content in the theme Customizer
After logging into your WordPress dashboard, you should go to Appearance -> Customize. There you can find some options associated with footer settings.
3. Add WordPress footer CSS
If you log into your WordPress dashboard and go to Appearance -> Customize, you will also find an option called Additional CSS.
It may be useful for those who would like to remove an automatically added to every new site information: Powered by WordPress.

The penultimate way of editing WordPress footer is to edit WordPress Footer Widget Area. In order to do that, you need to go to Appearance -> Widgets, and there you’ll find a few widgets which you can modify.
5. Check your WordPress theme documentation
The last way of editing WordPress footer is to check your theme documentation.
If you check there, you may find a new way of editing WordPress footer, which is available only as an integrated part of that particular theme.
